1- Awareness Programme and Seminar cum Workshop Activities:

a. Celebration of International Wheelchair Day

  • The importance of wheelchair in providing mobility and dignity to make easier of the life of a differently abled, every year 01st March is being celebrated as the International Wheelchair Day.
  • Our organization PUNARBASA is sincerely coming across people having temporary or permanent disability since its inception.
  • Therefore, the international wheelchair day is celebrated every year on dt- 01st March by our Organisation to recognise the importance of wheelchair for differently abled by distributing wheelchair to financially poor distressed PwD persons.

b. Celebration of Autism Awareness Day

  • Every year 02nd April we celebrate World Autism Awareness Day.
  • World Autism Day Autism is a Neuro cognitive disorder which is highly growing in the recent years irrespective of Urban Rural context.
  • Our Organisation PUNARBASA has been providing Sensory Integration Therapy by qualified Occupational Therapist in its Therapy centre from the year 2017-18 under the Social Security Empowerment of Persons with Disability Department supported project.
  • Kendrapara is basically an Agricultural dominated rural district. The parents of the Autistic children do not have other scopes except District Head Quarter Hospital to know the fundamental or basic information about Neuro genetic disorders.

c. Celebration of World Physiotherapy Day

  • World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated on 08th September every year, and an opportunity for Physiotherapists from all over the world to raise awareness about the crucial contribution their profession makes to keeping people well, mobile and independent.
  • Therefore, World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated every year on dt- 08th September in the premises of our Organisation.

d. Celebration of World Cerebral Palsy Day

  • Cerebral Palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. World Cerebral Palsy Day is a worldwide movement that started in 2012 and now it reached over 10 million people.
  • It aims to bring together people living Cerebral Palsy, their families, supporters and Organisations working for them.
  • Therefore, World Cerebral Palsy Day is celebrated every year on dt- 06th October by our Organisation to improve community awareness, encourage people to learn more about Cerebral Palsy.
  • Our Organisation PUNARBASA has been providing Physiotherapy to this type of children by qualified Physiotherapist in its Therapy centre from the year 2017-18 under the Social Security Empowerment of Persons with Disability Department supported project.

e. Celebration of International Day of Person with Disability

  • The International Day of disabled person aims to promote the Rights and well-being of Persons with Disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to raise awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in all aspects of political, Social, Economic, and Cultural life.
  • Our Organisation celebrated every year on dt- 03rd December in its Physiotherapy Centre.

f. Seminar cum workshop on RPwD Act

  • For spreading awareness and creating sensitization to the cause and remedy of disability in the society seminar on various related subjects is organised regularly by this organisation.
  • After the Implementation of Rights of Persons with Disability Act, 2016 for spreading awareness of its different provisions and Rights conferred to the differently abled, our organisation has been conducting nos. of Seminar cum Workshop about this newly enacted powerful law for PwDs in various occasions in association with the District Social Security wings of Kendrapara District Administration.

g. Seminar cum Workshop on Accessible Election and Inclusion of PwDs-
"Let's Exercise our voting Right for making of a better inclusive Democracy".

  • In view of the ongoing General Election- 2024, a discussion on- Accessible Election & Inclusion of PwD in democracy held today in the premises of PUNARBASA, Kendrapara where participants from different sections of PwD including physically challenged, visually challenged, Intellectually challenged persons associated with PwD activities, Young voters, Senior citizens, Social worker, Educationist and Representative of District Administrative of Kendrapara putforth their views and expectations for an inclusive election.
  • Former principal of Kendrapara Autonomous College Prof. Nanda Kishore Parida, District social security officer Sri Pravash Chandra Das, Sub-divisional social security officer Smt. Rupali priyadarshini, visually challenged District Youth Officer of NYK Sri Tirupati Reddy & many others expressed their valuable views and the measures for a successful & cent percent participation of differently abled voters.

h. Braile Voter Awareness Workshop

  • With the various facilitation provisions for Accessible Election, this year the ECU has made the electoral exercise completely Braille compatible for the Visually Challenged, thereby enabling them to cast their vote without taking the help of a companion.
  • In view this paradigm developments towards # Inclusive Election, A Braille voter Awareness Workshop has been organized by PUNARBASA on 29th May, 2024 at Madhapur Therapy Centre. On this occasion notet Educationalist Prof. Nanda kishore Parida, Eminent Medicine Specialist Dr. Kulamani Baral, Surgery Specialist Dr. Birendra Kumar Dash, Former DSSO, Kendrapara Pravash Chandra Das, Noted Visually Challenged Writer Nrusingh Charan Behera, Lecturer Sasmita Adhikari and Sadar Block BSSO Sudipta Mohapatra, NCMICH Principal Swapnansu Kumar Das, Visually Challenged Teacher Arun Kumar Behera put forth their views on these immensely beneficial accessible provisions for VI.

2- Therapeutic and Rehabilitative Services:

a. Physiotherapy & Rehabilitative Service on affordable fees

  • Before the year, 2010, Physiotherapy was mostly unheard and expensive service in the district of Kendrapara. Our organisation PUNARBASA for the first time on 11th October, 2010 started a physiotherapy unit in Kendrapara Town, which was first of it’s kind in the district.
  • The centre was inaugurated by the Renowned & legendary therapist Dr. Patitapaban Mohanty, HOD of Physiotherapy Department, SVNIRTAR, OLATPUR.
  • The sole purpose was to provide Physiotherapy services with the minimum affordable cost. Particularly the stroke survivor, Spinal injury survivor and others those who badly required rehabilitative Physiotherapy services nearest to their home instead of travelling miles to Cuttack and Olatpur.
  • Now the centre is running with full phase capacity with trained and well qualified Physiotherapist with all latest modern electro therapy equipment.

b. Therapeutic & Rehabilitative services to Children/ Persons with Intellectually Disabilities.

  • In the Year 2017-18, our organisation PUNARBASA has started provided therapeutic services to children/ persons with intellectually disability belonging to Kendrapara district under this SSEPD Dept. Govt. of Odisha supported project at present children around 40 numbers having intellectually disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Autism and other intellectually challenged are undergoing therapeutic and rehabilitative services by trained and qualified therapist like Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Speech Therapist in the therapy centre at Madhapur, Kendrapara town in free of coast.
  • Apart from that regular Health Check-up and Dental Check-up camp also arranged for those attending clinic for therapy.

c. Therapeutic & Rehabilitative services to CwIDs through Home Based

  • Under this SSEPD Dept. supported project those children having severe disability with cerebral Palsy are provided with Home based therapy services considering their in accessibility to therapy centre due to lack male member and other related financial constraints for commutation.
  • At present a total 16 numbers of CwIDs getting Home based therapy by Physiotherapist accompanied by an Assistant to Therapist.

3- Rehabilitational Support Programme to PwDs Activities:

a. Aids and Appliance support as distribution of supportive devices to distress PwDs

  • For Persons who have lost their legs due to accident or diseases and for persons those are polio affected, a free Artificial Limbs and Callipers Measurement Camp is organised regularly every year in association with the famous Artificial Limbs maker Jaipur Foots (BMVSS) in the premises of physiotherapy centre running by this organisation.
  • On the other hand, PUNARBASA also provide normal wheelchair and Motorised Neo Motion wheelchair to different PwDs people as per their necessity to help in their day-to-day life and boost them as a self-sufficient entrepreneur.

b. Livelihood support to differently abled small entrepreneur

  • For the betterment and awareness of Disability Rights our Organisation PUNARBASA organise various social wellbeing programme for PwDs.
  • There are two paraplegic small entrepreneur persons of Kendrapara district provided 10000/- each as assistance money to boost up their ongoing business and gradually including in the mainstream society.

c. Livelihood support to differently abled women entrepreneur

  • “PUNARBASA” organised a programme namely “Livelihood Assistance to PwDs women Entrepreneur”.
  • There are five differently abled small women entrepreneurs of Kendrapara district. Organisation provided 12000/- each as a token of financial support to strengthen and encourage their small entrepreneurship.
  • This type of activity definitely pave the way for others including private/corporate and banking agencies to extend their support towards this most marginalized differently abled people of our society.

d. Participation in Block & District level special Therapy camp

  • Apart from providing clinic based therapeutic and rehabilitative services, Our organisation PUNARBASA also extend support to the different government agencies in providing therapeutic support by delegating its professionals like Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist to different camp organised by the Block Education Officers and in BBSA camp organised by District Social Security Office, Kendrapara.

4- Empowerment support to PwDs Activities:

a. Annual Meritorious scholarship to PwD students

  • Education and Skill development are the main keys to make a person successful in their life. Due to disability and financial constrains most of the meritorious PwD student in rural dominated area are being deprived of getting higher education or other related skill development courses available in big cities, which debars their inner potentiality to prove and include themselves in the mainstream life by becoming economically independent.
  • Our organisation PUNARBASA doing a lot of social welfare cum financial support programme for the PwDs people in all over the district of Kendrapara.
  • To bring them in to the educational mainstream of life, our organisation has been extending a financial support to economically weaker meritorious PwDs students of Kendrapara district through the programme ANNUAL PUNARBASA MERITORIOUS SCHOLARSHIP TO PwD STUDENTS since the year 2021 to different category of meritorious PwD students in Matriculation, Higher Secondary, Graduation, Post-Graduation or students pursuing equivalent technical studies.

b. Financial Sponsorship to eligible PwDs talents

  • This year on the historical birth day of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das on 29th April,2024 “Swabhiman Divas”, our organisation has started a Financial Sponsorship Programme to Eligible PwDs Talents programme in order to extend financial sponsorship support to those eligible PwDs talents of Kendrapara district to achieve their desired goal.
  • Through the sponsorship our organisation extend monthly financial support @5000/- to Monali Swain, National Para swimmer of Narendrapur, Aul to support to meet her day to day living expenses in pursuing swimming practice in Bhubaneswar and @4000/- to Baraj Kumar Das, Meritorious PwD student now pursuing Msc (Physics) in Utkal University, Bhubaneswar for a period of 12 months.

5- Awareness and Publication Activities:

a. Publication of newspaper “PUNARBASA SAMACHAR”

  • In order to reach out the disables living irrespective of rural and urban areas and to make them aware of various Government welfare schemes and programmes, information relating to disability activities like meetings, seminars, workshops & special camps, articles & news, interviews and inspiring stories of successful disable personalities, sports, new inventions of Aids & Appliances for disable persons and views, a bi-monthly & bi-lingual Newspaper “PUNARBASA SAMACHAR” both in Odia and English Language is being published regularly by this Organisation.
  • This special kind of Newspaper published exclusively for the disables and distributed to them with free of cost by post throughout Odisha having RNI Regd. No: ODIBIL / 2016 / 67738.

b. Publication of books on different disability issue
PUBLICATION OF BOOK MATERIALS FOR AWARENESS AMONG DISABLES-

  • Books are the tools through which knowledge and basic information can be transfer to cater the complex ideas to common people in their understandable language.
  • Time to time this organisation publishes book materials for awareness among differently abled people in large. Till date, this organisation has translated and published the newly enacted law for the awareness of the differently abled community about the RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITY ACT- 2016 in precise odia booklet.
  • Apart from this booklet our organisation also publishes informative and educative booklets i.e., SOME POINTS ABOUT TAKING CARE OF AUTISM & CEREBRAL PALSY CHILDREN separately for awareness among the parents.
  • Our effort in compiling a book SOME POINTS TO KNOW ABOUT MENTAL RETARDATION in Odia language is a pioneering work in this field. Recently we have published “LOCOMOTOR AND MULTIPLE DISABILITY” in Odia language for better understanding of the common people.
